Currencies

Various currencies are used throughout the Hypixel Network to purchase items, upgrades, and collectibles. Some currencies can be used throughout the network, whereas others can only be used for specific games or lobbies. There are also a handful of removed currencies, those which were used at one point but have since been discontinued.

Network currencies[]

The following currencies can be used anywhere thoughout the network and are not tied to a specific game:

Mystery dust[]

Mystery dust is one of the oldest still used currencies and is used to unlock collectibles, buy game features such as themes in Housing, etc. It is typically earned by playing games, from Hypixel leveling, from reward cards, and more.

Hypixel gold[]

Hypixel gold is a currency used to buy items in the Hypixel In-game Store. Gold cannot be earned in-game and must be purchased on the Hypixel Store which will add money to the player's Gold Wallet.

Event silver[]

Event silver is a currency used to purchase costmetics during Hypixel events and is only accessible while an event is actively running. It is earned by increasing one's event level, and earnings depends on the player's rank. It is only used in the event shop to buy cosmetics related to the current event.

Game-specific currencies[]

The following currencies can only be used for specific games or in specific game lobbies:

Coins[]

Coins are the main currency used for most games across the network to buy game upgrades and cosmetics. Each lobby/game usually has its own specific coin (e.g. Arcade coins or SkyWars coins). Each lobby has its own shop, typically an emerald in the hotbar, where upgrades and cosmetics can be unlocked for one specific game only (cosmetics for one game do not carry over to other games).

Some notable exceptions include every Classic Game having its own coin system and coins in the Wool Games being called "Wool" instead of coins.

Tokens[]

Tokens are a currency used to buy cosmetics in certain games. For SkyWars and gamemodes which have transitioned from coins to tokens, tokens are only used to buy cosmetics, not game upgrades or perks.

Tributes[]

Tributes is a currency used in tournaments and the Tournament Hall to purchase cosmetics and rewards from current and past tournaments. It is earned from playing in tournaments and can be spent in the Tribute Shop in the Tournament Hall only when it's open.

Hype[]

Hype is a "currency" used in the Prototype Lobby to let the Hypixel developers know which prototype game the community likes the best. It is earned by playing Prototype games and can be spent on a prototype game to increase its Hype Meter.

Classic tokens[]

Classic tokens is a currency used to roll rewards for Classic games in the Classic Games lobby. It is earned from playing classic games, and rewards can be claimed at the Rewardsman.

Souls[]

Souls is a "currency" used in SkyWars to get kits and coins from the Soul Well. It is earned from killing players in SkyWars.

SkyBlock gems[]

SkyBlock gems is a currency used in SkyBlock to buy upgrades and items like booster cookies and fire sale items. SkyBlock gems cannot be earned in-game and must be purchased on the Hypixel Store which supports the development of SkyBlock.

Pit gold[]

Pit gold is a currency used in the Pit to purchase items and upgrades. It is earned from killing players, picking gold off the ground, events, perks, etc.

Renown[]

Renown is a currency related to prestiging in the Pit.

Gold and blood[]

Gold and blood are currencies used to buy upgrades during a game in VampireZ; gold is used by survivors and blood is used by vampires.

In-game currencies[]

Many games have currency systems within the game such mineral resources in Bed Wars (iron, gold, diamonds, emeralds) that are not saved and are thus not considered "currencies" on the Hypixel Network.

Removed currencies[]

Some currencies were active at one point, but are now not usable nor referenced anywhere on the Hypixel Network and have been thus removed:

Coins from the two games removed from the network (SkyClash & Crazy Walls) were able to be converted to Arcade coins.

Controversial currencies[]

Cookies[]

Cookies is a "currency" used in Housing that allows players to rate houses. It is more a rating system than a currency (it cannot be spent), but lifetime cookies are saved even after they are reset.

Karma[]

Karma is not really a currency but more a fun stat and cannot be spent or used anywhere. It can be earned from saying "gg" in chat, using certain gadgets, network boosters, etc.
