Hypixel Pocket Edition

Bladestorm

Hypixel: Pocket Edition (codenamed Bladestorm) was a temporary Minecraft Pocket Edition server released as an Alpha test to expand into the game. The server was silently released as Bladestorm in 2015, hosting very similar games to the Hypixel Network yet subtly referencing it in its contents. On October 28th, 2015, the Hypixel Team uploaded a video to YouTube revealing the secrets behind the server and announcing the official release and rename as Hypixel: Pocket Edition.

Content[]

Hypixel: Pocket Edition featured a single main lobby with four games from the Java server, including Brawl PVP, Survival Games, SkyWars and Build Battle, but also featuring an exclusive game called Simon Says. A sixth NPC labeled "Coming Soon!" was also visible next to Simon Says, presumably a port of Warlords. The games featured were simplified versions of their original counterparts, removing their gimmicks but still using maps from the Java network.

Simon Says was the only unique game developed for the server, being the main reference to the Hypixel Network as it used Hypixel's real name and Minecraft skin. The game worked similar to the current Hypixel Says available on the network, only with a smaller map and fewer tasks. The game also went by "Microgames" when joining a new match, likely meaning the game was inspired by WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames!

Shutdown[]

On March 31st, 2016, the server reached the end of its Alpha phase and was indefinitely shut down. Prior to this date, an announcement post was made to announce the shutdown and detail some technicalities in making a Pocket Edition server. The thread discussed several difficulties including keeping up with Pocket Edition's constant updates (before it become Minecraft: Bedrock Edition), limitations with a lack of resources, and the lack of monetization during the server's test run. However, the thread mentioned the team intending to return with a Beta edition the following year.[1]

On September 8th, 2017, in a forum thread, it was announced that there were no plans to resume Hypixel Pocket Edition for its Beta phase, nor had any work taken place on Hypixel Pocket Edition.[2]

As of 2021, there are no plans to ever revive this project, nor are there plans to make a Hypixel: Bedrock Edition.
