Loot Chests

This article concerns a minigame or feature on the Hypixel Network that has since been removed.

Loot Chests were reward crates that would grant random cosmetics for a given game. Bed Wars, Duels, Murder Mystery, and SkyWars each had their own Loot Chests. With the gradual removal of random loot, Loot Chests were fully phased out across all four games by February 10, 2024. All unopened loot chests were automatically opened, their rewards given to the players.

Variants

Regular

Regular Loot Chests were the standard type used across the four supported games. When opened, they would grant three of any regular cosmetic the player could purchase from the games' shops.

Seasonal

Seasonal Loot Chests were available during the major server-wide events (Easter, Summer, Halloween, and Holidays) and the minor Lunar events, replacing the regular Loot Chests. Halloween chests were called Spooky Chests and holiday chests were called Merry Chests. When opened, they would grant cosmetics related to the season, which were not available at other times or with the games' currencies.^[Confirm?]

Obtaining

Store

Regular Loot Chests could be purchased for all games through the Hypixel Store or the In-Game Store. During seasonal events, the respective seasonal Loot Chests were also available to purchase.

Bed Wars

Regular Bed Wars Loot Chests were only obtained through leveling up, with one chest given per Bed Wars Level. During seasonal events one free seasonal Loot Chest would be given, and more could be obtained through seasonal Quests.^[Confirm?]

Duels

Regular Duels Loot Chests were only obtained through weekly Quests, with one chest given per quest completion per week, meaning players could earn up to two per week. During seasonal events one free seasonal Loot Chest would be given, and more could be obtained through seasonal Quests.^[Confirm?]

Murder Mystery

Regular Murder Mystery Loot Chests were only obtained through weekly Quests, with one chest given per quest completion per week, meaning players could earn up to two per week. During seasonal events one free seasonal Loot Chest would be given, and more could be obtained through seasonal Quests.^[Confirm?]

SkyWars

Regular SkyWars Loot Chests were obtained through leveling up or through the "Free Loot Chest" weekly Quest. During seasonal events one free seasonal Loot Chest would be given, and more could be obtained through seasonal Quests.^[Confirm?]

Opening

The player's Loot Chests could be found in the Shopkeeper's menu or the menu emerald in the player's hotbar. When clicking on the Loot Chest button, the player would be taken to a secluded area of the lobby to open and view their chests.

Opening chests would play a small animation before presenting the three items earned from the chest. If the player already had one of the cosmetics the chest granted, they would be given 10% of the purchase value of the item in the game's cosmetics currency.^[Confirm?] Chests could also drop bags of the game's cosmetics currency.
