SkyWars Laboratory NPC
The SkyWars Laboratory is a series of experiemental modes in SkyWars released on July 29, 2017[1]. These modes take the base Solo/Doubles SkyWars formula and add unique twists to alter the gameplay. The modes currently rotate between Rush/Slime and TNT Madness/Lucky Blocks.
Modes[]
TNT Madness[]
TNT Madness is a mode added alongside the fixing of TNT jumping on Hypixel. The mode gives Feather Falling X boots to prevent fall damage, and scatters TNT-related blocks across loot chests. These blocks include Primed TNT that starts igniting upon placement, TNT Launch Pads that spawn four ignited TNT blocks on all four sides, and Insta-Boom TNT that explodes upon being placed and serves only to knock players away.
Lucky Blocks[]
- Main article: SkyWars/Lucky Blocks
Lucky Blocks is a mode centered around random drops or events from Lucky Blocks in chests. The Lucky Blocks can be placed and broken to drop an item or trigger an event. Lucky Blocks range from blue Guardian Lucky Blocks that give protective boosts, red Weaponry Lucky Blocks that give aggressive boosts, orange/yellow/green Lucky Blocks that drop unusual items or trigger unusual events that can reward or punish the player, and aqua OP Rule Lucky Blocks that activates a rule for everyone until the end of the game.
Slime[]
Slime is a mode based off the experiemental return of the Knockback X Slimeball, an old item from SkyWars middle chests before the Knockback Rods. This mode gives standard Iron Armor and Stone Swords, but also scatters a variety of knockback items around all chests, including the Knockback X Slimeball. Double-jumping, Slime Launchers, and Jump Boost Potions are also available in this mode.
Rush[]
Rush is a fast-paced mode that utilizes Ender Pearls and fast refill times to create a speedy battle with quick reactions from players. Ender Pearls spawn commonly in all chests alongside Diamond gear and Knockback items, but players can ride the pearls they throw and can throw multiple pearls anywhere. Pearls have an initial cooldown of 15 seconds when starting, and then use a combat tagging system that disables them for 5 seconds upon being hit.
Removed Modes[]
Floor is Lava[]
Floor is Lava is a mode involving the decay of blocks as they turn into lava. Blocks initially decay slowly, but the decay rate speeds up over time. Iron Blocks are available in chests, which decay much slower and allow for traversing the lava.
Kill by Color[]
Kill by Color is a mode that sets itself apart through its method of elimination. The mode has players spawn with dyes and dyed armor, while also leaving backup armor around all chests. Opponents' armor can be destroyed by hitting them with the corresponding colored dye, and the opponent will be eliminated when all of their armor pieces are destroyed. Backup armor is applied automatically when an armor piece of the same type is destroyed, and players can also knock others into the void to eliminate them.
Blizzard[]
Blizzard is a mode that uses Snowballs as a primary means of attacks. Snowballs deal damage to other players in this mode, and snow that can be dug up with shovels is scattered around every open surface. Shovels can still be used to damage players, and they can also be eliminated through the void or fall damage.
Hunters vs Beasts[]
Hunters vs Beasts is a two-team mode where 10 hunters are pitted against 2 beasts. The beasts are given Diamond gear and have a double jump ability with a 3-second cooldown, along with a Leap Pearl that acts like an Ender Pearl from the Rush mode and has a longer cooldown. The hunters must work together to take down the beasts through regular means, only at an individual gear disadvantage.
